Roscommon, Republic of Ireland – Friday 26th May to Sunday 28th May 2023

We have been invited to Ireland to sing with the Cór Comáin – Roscommon Choir. This trip was originally planned for 2020 but postponed due to covid. Cór Comáin visited and sang with us in London in May 2019, which was a huge success. It was a wonderful experience to sing with another group and while Ireland may be our neighbour, we still were able to share our respective cultures (they like to drink!). We are planning the return visit to Roscommon from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th May 2023.

Cór Comáin’s trip to London, May 2019

We’re delighted that this trip is back in the schedule and would love you to take part, if you are interested. It doesn’t matter if you are not currently singing with one of Hannah’s weekly choirs, as the programme will be simple enough to put together in a few rehearsals, using at-home resources. If money is a huge issue for you please do contact us, as we have a small bursary fund available.

The programme is likely to be:

April/ May (UK): Potential extra evening/weekend rehearsal(s) to prepare the rep.

Friday 26th May  – evening (Ireland): Trip to a local pub with live music (one drink provided)

Saturday 27th: a morning singing workshop, followed by a shared lunch at a local restaurant, a joint rehearsal in the afternoon with Roscommon choir, and a performance in the evening – with pub afterwards, with lots more singing. (Lunch and one drink provided in price)

Sunday: (optional) group walk or tour of the town in the morning then home time.

The price for the singing package includes pre-trip rehearsal/s & resources, a drink on the Friday evening, singing workshop, Saturday lunch, rehearsal, performance, and group guided walk. We estimate this to be £120 per person (this is dependant on group size & exchange rate). You will be required to book and pay for your own flights and airport transfers. You will also need to pay for your accommodation direct to the hotel upon arrival (we can reserve rooms on your behalf – see below).

You may choose to extend your stay in Ireland either before, or after the singing activities. It is likely we will create a Facebook group so you can co-ordinate if you wish to travel with others.

Knock Airport is the closest airport – Aer Lingus flies from London Gatwick, Ryanair from London Luton, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.

We have rooms reserved at Gleesons Townhouse, Roscommon. The rate for a two night stay, with full Irish breakfast each morning, is €220 per twin/double room based on two people sharing, and €150 for a single room. We will reserve the rooms on your behalf, but the cost would be payable direct to the hotel on arrival. If you need to cancel the accommodation this must be done at least 14 days in advance of arrival.

You are of course free to book your own accommodation elsewhere if you prefer.

Extra guests
Partners/family members are very welcome to join us and there will be a rate for non singers, which will include the evening activities and the Sunday walk. Please email us to let us know how many additional people you would like to bring –

How to book
To book your place, please pay a non-refundable deposit of £60 by 1st October 2022 at the latest, but the sooner the better. The full balance will be due by 28th February 2023. Repertoire and resources will be available from 1st April 2023.

It would be very helpful to know as soon as possible if you are interested,  so we know that we have enough singers to make this viable. Please do drop us an email if you are keen but not yet ready to pay a deposit.

If by October 1st we do not have enough singers to make this viable, we will of course refund all deposits. Please do not book any flights until we are sure we have a critical mass!

If you have any questions please do ask.
