The Royal Variety Show

Dec 13, 2016

If you saw Gary Barlow’s performance at the Royal Variety Show 2016, you may have also noticed 100 or so ladies holding sunflowers!  Members from Kensington Singers and Victoria Park Singers joined with the WI choir to perform Dare. This is a lovely song from Gary and co-writer Tim Firth’s new musical The Girls, based on the Calendar Girls story. What a privilege it was to perform alongside Gary, Tim and the cast from the show. We were however all rather surprised by David Walliams’ unexpected appearance at the end of the song, and the photos of his attire appeared in a few of the national press the following morning!

Other performers on the night included Amber Riley, the cast of An American in Paris, Lady Gaga, Sting, Robbie Williams and Barry Gibb. This year’s performance was in the presence of HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at the Hammersmith Apollo.

Here are some photos from our rehearsals and backstage, and there is a video of the performance in case you missed it!
